Bheja Fry 2, Always Kabhi Kabhi, Bhindi Baazaar Inc. - Music Review

Bheja Fry 2 (2011)
Music: Ishq Bector, Sneha Khanwalkar, Sagar Desai

Nutty movie, crazy plot with a dorky person. If the music of the movie did not reflect that, then it would be surprising. But no surprises to be found here. All the songs without exception are funny with goofy lyrics. They are pretty good in the context of the movie, just not so good in general. Although, O Rahi stands out for it's creative freshness.
1. O Rahi --------------------------------------------------------- 7/10
One of the best retro musical recreation of late. Sure there have been some songs of this sort, but this one completely mimics the style of music of the 60s. The video and musical style will completely remind you of singing legends Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and the likes. Add to it a fun retro party trumpet theme music and fun lyrics.

Brownie points:
  • Ishq Da Keeda - Does a good job of blending Indian classical music and sarcastic lyrics
  • We Go Crazy, We Go Crazy (Remix) - Good beats and tone making the goofdom foot-tapping

Always Kabhi Kabhi (2011)
Music: Aashish Rego, Shree D, Pritam

1. Jaane Kyon (Soul Version) --------------------------- 7/10
2. Jaane Kyon (Sufi Version) ---------------------------- 7/10
A pretty smooth and soft romantic. Nothing dramatic or path-breaking, but just a standard well composed romantic track. A typical Pritam track and almost sounds like an extended track from Kucch Luv Jaisaa. The lyrics are intelligent and keeps you hooked. Both the versions are almost identical. Naresh Iyer and Shafqat Amanat Ali are both great singers and certainly rising up fast, but both of them lack the punch KK packs in such songs.

3. Always Kabhi Kabhi ------------------------------------ 6/10
A pretty generic R&B romantic track that will remind one of college romances. Simple and likable, but also passable.

Brownie point:
  • School Ke Din - This will remind you of school days. Perfect song for school farewell events and send-off parties.
Final verdict: Very generic album overall, nothing too bad or extremely good either. Get 1 above, 2 can be given a try.

Bhindi Baazaar Inc. (2011)
Music: Sandeep - Surya

1. Aa Ja Re Piya --------------------------------------------- 6/10
A pretty nice Indian classical based romantic track. Fans of musical style of Roop Kumar Rathod, Ismail Darbar will likely enjoy it, although these singers are not involved in this track in any way. Certainly worth a shot for these fans.

2. Akkad Bakkad --------------------------------------------- 5/10
Although overall it is a pretty bad track, this tracks blends a number of elements pretty well: Wry humor, 80s R.D. Burman style action-suspense movie theme, and the gritty voice of Suraj Jagan. The song does possess some entertainment value.
